Actress Jung So Min returns to drama as an independent but innocent girl “Jung So Min” in a new sitcom.
After a year and half hiatus since her series Playful Kiss which ended on October, 2010, Jung is coming back to broadcast in MBC’s sitcom Stand By as a girl from the countryside.
Jung’s character in Stand By is born and raised in a rural village in Gangwon-do and easily puts her faith into others. After coming to Seoul, she does several part-time jobs to stand on her own. Yet, as she easily puts her faith into others, she often let others deceive her.
She is a bit behind in trends and confuses others with rambling comments, but her sincere friendliness and innocence allow others to get close to her easily.
Previously in Playful Kiss and Bad Guy, Jung successfully starred a bright, innocent character. She says, “I was always interested in playing in sitcoms. Hope you like the unique personality that my character has which I’m about to play.”
Stand By is to tell everyday stories of regular office workers and their sorrow having a virtual broadcasting system called TV 11 in the background. Through variety of people who work at the broadcasting company such as producers of variety programs, scriptwriter, and anchors, the sitcom is to realistically feature common concerns and love that office workers share in their life.
Stand By will be aired in the beginning of April as a follow-up sitcom to High Kick 3: The Short Legs Counterattack.

(Updated) Jung So Min's Co-stars for Stand By!

And casting news continues for Jung So Min's new sitcom Stand By!

I'm so excited that MinMin will be working with different actors and actress as it will surely be fun to watch to have MinMin interact with them!

Hopefully we can get more castings news and pictures as well! ^_^

Below are the few infos about the other cast!

Ryun Jin plays an announcer whose goal is to anchor for the 9 o’clock news. He looks cool and collected on the outside, but his real personality is described as a bit of a pathetic loser.
In his rookie days, Ryu’s character made a few key mistakes during live broadcasts and spent the next several years being bypassed by his colleagues and even juniors. Naturally this is a source of stress, so he resolves to make his breakthrough before he gets any older, starting a skincare regimen and writing glowing praise about himself (posing as regular ol netizens, of course) on the broadcaster’s homepage.

Im Siwan’s specific role is a high school student by the same name, who not only has perfect grades, but also handsome looks and talent to boot. Having virtually everything at his will, he acts rather indifferently to everyone around him.

Lee Mi Sook also act in this sitcom, she will act as Ryu Jin's mother
(I super love this actress! She can nail almost any other role! -jeankaycee)

{News)Jung So-min returns to TV with Standby

And its javabeans's turn to spread the news!
Thanks javabeans of dramabeans!

Below is the re-post of javabeans' article!

Well, this is great news: Jung So-min is heading back to television with a new show, MBC’s sitcom Standby, which follows High Kick 3 and recently cast Ryu Jin in the lead.
It feels like ages since Jung’s last project but turns out to be only a year and a half since she wrapped up Playful Kiss, where she was winning and adorable playing a sometimes-frustrating (okay, oftentimes-frustrating) character. Then again, a year and a half is a pretty long time to stay out of the public eye for a rising It Girl in the very beginning of her career. I’m just glad that we’ll get to see her acting in something again, since I find her really relatable and endearing as an actress, with a natural presence.
Standby is a workplace comedy that takes place at a fictional broadcast station, where our series lead Ryu Jin finds himself stuck in a career slump (can it be a slump if it never took off?) amidst dreams of anchoring the nightly news. Other characters include variety PDs, writers, and announcers who make up the broadcast station family.
Jung plays a young woman named So-min (it’s common in sitcoms for characters to share names with the actors) who grew up in a remote mountain village. She finds herself working a number of odd jobs once she makes the big move to Seoul, determined to make her way in the world and work hard at a successful career. So-min (the character) is a little behind the fashions and tends to say weird things that puzzle people, but she’s got a warm heart and a generous personality. Sadly, though, it’s that trusting nature that also makes her a target for opportunists.
I’m a pretty big fan of Jung So-min and I love Ryu Jin playing comedic, so I’m going to have to check this one out… even if I am pretty tired out from following a number of sitcoms in the past year. They’re light-hearted fun, yes, but they’re also daily shows, and the episodes just pile up on ya, and before you know it you’re drowning in ‘em. Glug glug.
Standby premieres in April.
